Less than 48 hours

image

It is less than 48 hours that I left from home. And I have to apologise for this being the first road report in English. Yesterday had been a busy day and I have to admit that the final of the World Championship in Soccer got my full attention. When mounting my bike this morning I thought of taking away the German flag at the back of my carrier.

The last two days had a bit of everything. Rain, sunshine, step climbs, fast downhills, beautiful cycling lanes and narrow streets without any tracks for bikes. Starting from the hilly Taunus down to the Lahn, back into the Egge Mountains to the Sauerland and through the Porta Westfalica into the North German Plain. The last kilometres today I followed a busy Bundesstrasse (Federal Highway) fighting with wind, rain gusts and the challenging traffic.

Todays challenges included bike dumping and tanks. Passing by an extended military area of the British groups here in Germany I not only had an encounter with a big one but also noticed that this seem to be normal in this region.

But at the end It had been great two days during which I saw a lot of this beautiful country and the nice, weird, funny and touching people  in these regions. It still is great fun to bike.

Auf dem Weg

171 km I 0:08:56 I 171 km I Bad Homburg – Marsberg, NRW

Endlich unterwegs.
